Her unique, handcrafted creations are made of precious and semi precious stones. The gems used to make beautiful necklaces, bracelets and earrings include stones of turquoise, coral, black onyx, pearl, strawberry quartz, Peruvian opal, and Swarovski crystal. Pieces range from earthy to elegant. Carmen’s bold work captures and reflects the best of the beautiful, exotic Southwest traditions and is inspired by her father, Juan Reyes Mares. The beauty of the Taos environment is woven through her beaded strands and her love of Taos’ historic culture is her motivation. The stones are selected from worldwide sources. Many are from Africa, Asia, North and South America, Czechoslovakia, Tibet, Brazil, Australia, and Austria. Each piece she makes is like visiting those cultures for her.
